Driver Education Grant Program
Students who qualify for free or reduced lunch may apply to have their classroom and behind-the-wheel training paid for through the Wisconsin Driver Education Grant Program.
CrashCourse Driver Education Center is an approved provider for this program. Once approved, your full tuition is paid directly to CrashCourse by the Wisconsin DMV—making driver’s ed 100% free for eligible students.
✅ Eligible Students
- Wisconsin resident
- 14–19 years of age
- Eligible for or receiving free & reduced lunch
- Has not previously held a driver license
🚗 Grant Covers
- 30 hours of classroom instruction
- 6 hours of behind-the-wheel driving
- 6 hours of real-time observation
📚 Eligible Schools
- Certified public high schools
- CESA programs or Tribal schools
- Private schools or DMV-licensed training centers like CrashCourse
📋 The Process
- Apply online using the official application
- Receive a confirmation email with a “coupon” code
- Share that code with CrashCourse when enrolling
- CrashCourse submits the code and DMV sends payment directly
Note: Grant funds expire after 18 months of no use. Students may reapply if needed.
Additional fees: Permit, road test, and license fees are paid separately by the student after completing training.
