Frequently Asked Questions
How old do I have to be to become a student at Crash Course?
To become a student you must be at least 15 years old and no older than 17 years old to sign up for our teen programs. To sign up for our adult programs, you must be at least 18 years old.
When can I start my online classes?
Once you enroll online you should be receiving an email to start your online classes. You can begin the same day of enrolling or you can wait until you have time to start the online classes.
How long do I have to finish my online classes?
You have 30 days from the time you finish your first online lesson to finish all 15 of the online lessons. You can only do one lesson per calendar day, and each lesson is 2 hours long.
What if I don't finish my online classes within the 30 days?
If you do not finish the online classes within the 30 day period we do give a grace period of one week after the 30 days to finish. If the classes are not completed after that week, then you will be locked out of the online program and will have to pay a $20 fee to get an extra 30 days to finish the rest of the lessons.
What do I do after I complete my online classes?
Once you have completed your online classes you can give our office a call to schedule a permit test with us. If you would like to take the test at the DMV, then give us a call to schedule your behind the wheel lessons and have the signed paperwork needed from us mailed out to you.
When can I get my permit?
After you finish the online lessons and take the permit test you will be eligible to get your permit from any local DMV, as long as you are 15 and a half years old.
What do I need to take to the DMV to get my permit?
You will need the paperwork we gave to you after taking the permit test or sent via post mail, your original birth certificate, original social security card, and parent/guardian. The permit is $35. If you do not have your birth certificate or social you can use a passport to replace those two. If you do not have either of those, then please contact the office.
How old must I be to get my permit?
To be eligible to get the permit you must be at least 15 and a half years old.
When can I start my behind the wheel classes?
Behind the wheel classes typically start the month after you finish your online classes. This may change depending on your age and availability.
When are teen behind the wheel lessons offered?
We offer teen behind the wheel lessons Monday through Friday from 2pm to 9pm. This can change during the summer.
How long does it take to finish my behind the wheel classes?
Behind the wheel will be scheduled throughout the 6 month period of you holding your permit. We typically schedule 1 or 2 lessons per month.
How can I reschedule a behind the wheel lesson?
To reschedule or cancel any lessons you must call our office. You must call the office at least 24 hours before your scheduled lesson in order to cancel/reschedule. Failure to do so will result in a $40 No Show Fee. If the office is closed you can still call and leave a voicemail, and you will not be charged a fee as long as its before the 24 hour period.
What happens if I miss a behind the wheel lesson?
If you miss a behind the wheel lesson without calling 24 hours before, then the lesson will be marked down as a $40 No Call No Show Fee and you will have to pay that fee on our website before you can reschedule the lesson.
Are there any exceptions to the No Show Fee?
There are no exceptions to the No Show fee. When someone cancels with less than 24 hours notice we do not have enough time to look for another student to replace the available spot. This puts a whole in our routes that results in one or more of our other students to lose their observation time which then we would have to reschedule them another lesson for observation.
